Exceedingly rarevariation of the Chypré Lotion perfume bottle (known as Arc en Ciel.) by Florente designed as a world globe with anairplane on top.

Figural clearglass bottle shaped as a globe with relief textured continents (insted offrosted) and frosted stopper that is shaped as a monoplane. Retailed in SouthAmerica, commemorative flight significance probable. **

Bottle was madein France by unknown maker. Fragrance bottled and distributed by Florente inBuenos Aires / Argentina, ca. 1930s.

5inches (12.5 cm) height.

Condition:

Original emptybottle. Despite two short, barely visible internal hairlines on the neck and abroken plane-shaped stopper, so it is very important to check thepictures. This rare bottleremains extremely hard to find in any condition.

** The bottle is very probably commemorating the first experimental flight ofthe "Arc en Ciel" from Istres/ France to Buenos Aires/Argentina.

In January 12th1933, Jean Mermoz set a record when he flew with a load of mail across theSouth Atlantic in the "Arc en Ciel" (Rainbow) three-engine monoplane.Designed by M. Couzinet, it was the first French plane to make transatlanticair mail really possible.

It would be avery important addition to any Perfume Bottle or Early Aviation collection!!!
