"Birds in Kerchief" covered dish.

"A most unusual and mysterious item". Extremely rare antique milk glass from Finland.

Fersons Yesterdays Milk Glass Today list it as item number 92, illustrated on page 27, together with many other rarities on that page all of which are from the Rush Pinkston collection.

Cover has a flange-like projection that fits into the opening in the base to prevent the top from rotating.

The maker of this intriguing piece is attributed to Riihimäen Lasi Oy, a glassworks in Riihimaki, Finland. The item is shown on page 35 in the companys catalog, dated 1939, and is assigned the number 5652.

The base is missing its label.

One just like it sold at Cowans Auctions in 2007 for over $500.00 at auction.

The condition is excellent. No cracks, breaks, or damage.

Because of the nature of this being hand made it has normal roughness along the bow edges and two of the birds beaks.
